Whitehall Group Lunch with Ambassador Dr. Ferenc Kumin, Hungarian Ambassador to the Court of St. James
The Whitehall Group were delighted to welcome Ambassador Dr. Ferenc Kumin, Hungarian Ambassador to the Court of St. James as guest speaker on 28th April. During lunch Dr. Kumin discussed ‘The current situation in Hungary and an insight on the politics surrounding the recent election’.
Dr. Ferenc Kumin is the Hungarian Ambassador to the Court of St. James, having been appointed in May 2020 as the UK was in the middle of its first COVID-19 related lockdown. Prior to moving to London, Kumin was Deputy State Secretary for the Development of European and American Relations at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He previously held the role of Consul General of Hungary in New York and before than served in Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s office as Deputy State Secretary for International Communication and Deputy Government’s Spokesperson. Previously, he worked in the Hungarian media, working for three years for the ATV cable news channel, as well as for Magyar Hírlap and the free daily publication Metro. He also worked as an adviser to former Hungarian President László Sólyom. Dr. Kumin hold a PHD in Political Science.
