The first semi-final of the CULS University Challenge 2022 took place on the evening of Monday, 5 April. Previously participants have joined from New York, and on this occasion one competitor joined from Phuket, Thailand where the clock had just struck midnight. The competition was tense, and the team from Caius/Girton/St Catherine’s took an early lead answering all but one of the starters for 10 in the first 10 minutes. However their competitors from Robinson/Pembroke soon got into their stride and were on their tails in the next 10 minutes, they then pulled away in the final 10 minutes and prevailed to win the first semi-final by a score of 220 to 175 points. They go on to contest the final whilst the second semi-final takes place on Tuesday, 19 April between past champions Fitzwilliam/Corpus against a new team from Downing/Saint Catherine’s which promises to be as close.
