Whitehall Group Lunch with Richard Murray, Chief Executive of The King’s Fund. Thursday, 11th April, 2019
Our guest speaker during lunch on Thursday, 11th April will be the Chief Executive of The King’s Fund, Richard Murray. During lunch Mr. Murray will be discussing ‘Stalling life expectancy in the UK: what is happening to the public’s health?’
Richard Murray was appointed as Chief Executive of The King’s Fund in January 2019, after five years as the Director of Policy. Before joining the Fund in January 2014, Richard was chief analyst at NHS England and had held a number of roles at the Department of Health, including senior economic adviser, director of strategy, director of financial planning and chief analyst, and director of finance, quality, strategy and analysis.
Richard initially trained as an economist and spent five years in academia before joining the Department of Health as an economic adviser. Following this he spent four years as a health care specialist at McKinsey & Co.
The Whitehall Group is a Forum of the Cambridge University Land Society, the oldest and largest departmental alumni society in the University whose membership, limited in numbers, covers a broad spectrum of Cambridge alumni but in particular those who have studied Land Economy at Cambridge. It is a unique Policy Discussion Group and meets for business style lunches and dinners about 25 times a year in central London. Events are strictly timed and numbers attending is restricted to between 16 and 22 members and their guest. The Whitehall Group also arranges the distinguished Whitehall Lectures Series and produces Occasional Policy Discussion Papers.
