Oliver Harwood - Chair
Oliver Harwood MA (Cantab) FRICS
Oliver is a Director of RH & RW Clutton which he joined as a Partner in 2012 following fifteen years with the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), ten as Chief Surveyor, providing advice to rural landowners and businesses across England and Wales. Prior to the CLA, Oliver was an Associate with Smith-Woolley, managing rural estates for both private and institutional clients, after training with Stratton and Holborow in the West Country and qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 1984.
At Cambridge (G&CC) Oliver took Pt 2 Land Economy, rowed for the Caius 1st VIII, was active in the CUOTC and performed in a couple of amateur dramatic productions, graduating in 1982.
Oliver’s background in Estate Management has formed the basis for his current practice, advising clients on estate and farm planning, dealing with inheritance tax issues, long and short-term development and diversification as well as undertaking a wide range of professional work in valuation, planning, and renewable energy. He is currently working with a client on a proposed Anaerobic Digester plant
Oliver has just stood down from the Council of the Agricultural Law Association and is currently Chairman of the small pro bono company that supports the UK’s involvement in the International Energy Agency Biogas Task, as well as supporting the East Grinstead Business Association.
Outside work Oliver is married to Helen, a primary school teacher, and lives in Cambridge. They have two grown up children. Oliver is a keen oarsman and a member of a ‘masters’ rowing crew. He is also an active dinghy sailor when time allows.
