David Garforth-Bles - Chair
After school I did a short service commission in the British Army, served in Norway, Denmark and Cyprus, as well as in Scotland and N Ireland. I went to Downing in 1976 to study Land Economy, with Law as a Part 1. And in my final year was President of two university sports, Modern Pentathlon and Pistol shooting. It was a very busy four years in Cambridge.
My start in property was on project management at Chestertons, and then moved to Gerald Eve where I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor with two main jobs. One assisting a partner advising on client's European properties. I also dealt with UK property of all sorts including pubs and hotels.
Moving to Jones Lang Wootton I advised clients with major property holdings in central London. These included investors, mainly owners of large City office buildings, and major tenant occupiers dealing with many Landlord & Tenant cases, and other issues.
Now I advise clients on various property matters, mainly in London and the South East. I also deal with my own property portfolio, and internet interests.
Family life is with my wife Rachel in Dulwich, South London, and my two grown up daughters Rebecca and Sophie. Activities include supporting the local church and some charities, playing hockey, cricket for various teams including the Lords & Commons, occasional golf including the Land Society events, as well as skiing. The last two summers I have cycled from London to Paris for charity
