The evening comprises a talk by Professor Robert Mair CBE FREng FRS, from the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge.
Professor Mair will explain how research at Cambridge has been applied to major tunnelling projects around the world,including Crossrail in London and other major projects. It will deal with issues such as ground risk and effects of tunnelling on overlying buildings. It will also describe new developments in the use of fibre optics and wireless sensors in the construction of crucial infrastructure.
