Visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum

14.00 – Arrival to the Fitzwilliam Museum Founder’s Entrance (through the portico), Trumpington Street. Group to be met by Rachel Sinfield, Head of Communications and Engagement, who will give the group a tour of the Founder’s building, explain the history of the building and its varied developments.
14.20 – A behind-the-scenes visit of the Founder’s Library to look at original architectural drawings, hear about the design and history of the Library and have a close-up view of some manuscripts and printed books. Session to be hosted by Edward Cheese, Conservator for Manuscripts and Printed Books, who is also our expert in early book binding and has been conserving and rebinding some of the Founder’s original objects.
14.45 – Group to join Hettie Ward, Assistant Keeper of Paintings, Drawings and Prints, on a tour of some of the paintings galleries, exploring the botanical collection of paintings, drawings and prints. Hettie will escort the group up to the Flowers Gallery, move into Dutch Gallery, before ending with the temporary exhibition she curated, Floral Fantasies. Some of the objects which will be on display were used in the recent collaboration with Oasis’s Spring 2018 collection.
15.30 – Guided visit will come to an end, but guests are welcome to stay on and enjoy the Museum until it closes at 5pm.
The AGM and Annual Dinner will follow this at Gonville and Caius College. The AGM takes place at 4pm in the Bateman Room, and drinks will be served from 6.45pm on the lawn followed by dinner in the Fellows Dining Room at 7.30pm.
