CULS is delighted to invite you on a tour of Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club.
Registration is from 3.30pm via gate 5 on Church Road, and tea and coffee will be served upon arrival in the Terrace.
At 4pm there will be a tour of the Club, including a look at the construction of the roof for No.1 Court.
The tour route will include:
- Meet at Wingfield Cafe
- Introduction (Pony Roller and Public Area etc)
- North Road Tunnel
- Members’ Lawn and view to South
- Members’ self-service restaurant
- Main interview room
- Players’ entrance
- Broadcast roof
- BBC studio
- Press stairwell
- Centre Court
- End – Museum and Shop
- Possibly 150th anniversary display corridor (subject to approval)
Following this, Robert Deatker, Estate Director, of AELTC (All England Lawn Tennis Club) will give a presentation on the “Wimbledon Master Plan and No.1 Court Project” with some interesting facts included. His talk will focus on: The challenges of hosting a Grand Slam; the Wimbledon Master Plan; No.1 Court project; funding and looking forward.
There will be a drinks reception from 6pm in the museum.
