Description of the event – “The Story of M7”
M7 is a fund and asset management business set up in the depths of the financial crisis (early 2009).
Tony Edgley (Partner, Brockton Capital) will facilitate a discussion with Richard Croft (CEO, M7) and Teresa Gilchrist (Director, M7) around what it was like to set up a new business in a challenging environment and the journey since.
M7 today is a pan-European investor and asset manager specialised in multi-let real estate, with a team of 84 staff operating a platform in the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Poland. The business is wholly owned by its senior managers and manages a portfolio of c.360 assets comprising 2.6 million sq m with a capital value in excess of €1.3 billion. Its joint venture partners include Oaktree Capital Management, Starwood Capital, H.I.G Capital, Goldman Sachs International and M&G Investments.

Richard Croft
Richard Croft is CEO of M7 Real Estate, which invests in and manages more than €1.2 billion of multi-let real estate in six European countries. Richard has over 25 years of real estate experience and at M7 focuses on strategy in addition to playing a key role in the real estate team. Prior to M7 Richard was CEO of GPT Halverton and before that he was International Investment Director of Teesland iOG (now Valad).
Teresa Gilchrist
Teresa Gilchrist is a director of M7 Real Estate Limited and member of the Investment Management team. She plays a key role in the area of new business development, including strategy, debt origination and fund structuring. Prior to joining M7 Teresa was Director of New Business at GPT Halverton and also had roles with INVESCO, Parkes & Company and PwC. Teresa has over 22 years of real estate experience and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Tony Edgley
Tony Edgley is a Partner of Brockton Capital, which invests in direct property and operating businesses that are heavily asset-backed in the United Kingdom. Brockton Capital has raised over £1.10bn of equity across three separate funds since 2006. Tony has over 35 years of real estate experience. Prior to Brockton Capital, Tony was Managing Director of Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance. Tony graduated from London South Bank University in Estate Management. He is a member of RICS and a Chartered Surveyor.
