This is the twelfth successive year that CULS has held this extremely popular panel discussion on the current state of the commercial property market. The expert panel comprises experienced professionals from different sectors of the market, who will each give their views on the direction of the commercial market will take in 2020 and beyond. The seminar will consider the outlook for property in the face of a volatile political environment, shifting market fundamentals and conflicting economic signals.

Steve has more than 30 years’ experience in the UK and international property market. Previous roles include: Partner and Head of Global Research & Consulting at Knight Frank, Director of Property Strategy & Research at Henderson Global Investors and Senior Managing Director at US Company Grubb & Ellis where he was responsible for global advisory and transaction services. An independent consultant for the past ten years, Steve is currently a Director of Milton Keynes Development Partnership with responsibility for Property & Projects and sits on the Board of Governors at Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. Steve graduated in Geography from Cambridge in 1987.

Nick Knight, Head of Valuations, CBRE
Nick is an Executive Director and Head of the UK Valuation Advisory department at CBRE. He has 23 years of experience in valuation. Nick represents the department on the UK Strategy Board and is responsible for the day to day running of the team of 250 valuation professionals in the London office. Nick has extensive experience providing advice on all UK sectors to a very broad range of clients in the UK REIT sector, UK Fund Managers, Private Equity, Sovereign Wealth and lenders into the UK market.
Nick is currently a member of the RICS Secured Lending Committee and the Cross Industry Commercial Valuation Forum helping to drive standards across the industry.
Madeleine Cosgrave, Managing Director, Regional Head of Europe, GIC Real Estate
Madeleine Cosgrave is Regional Head of Europe for GIC Real Estate. Based in London she is responsible for GIC’s investment strategy and real estate portfolio in Europe. She is also a voting member of GIC RE’s Global Investment Committee. GIC is Singapore’s Sovereign Wealth fund and is an early entrant among institutional investors in real estate. Investments include traditional private real estate (brick-and-mortar assets), public and private equities (such as real estate operating companies), real estate investment trusts and real estate credit. The real estate assets span multiple property sectors, including office, retail, residential, student accommodation, industrial and hospitality. GIC works with best in class real estate partners and actively manages the assets to generate income and enhance market value through tenant management, market positioning, leasing and capital improvements.
Prior to joining GIC Real Estate in 1999, she spent 10 years at JLL, joining the graduate scheme and rotating through valuation, fund management and capital markets. During her time there she worked both in London and as a development consultant in Sydney
Madeleine studied Land Economy at Cambridge University. She is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a former chair of the INREV Investor Platform and founding member of the ICSC Diversity Steering Committee. She sits on the boards of P3 Sarl, Rönesans Gayrimenkul Yatırım A.S., Broadgate REIT Limited, Cegereal SA and Gmp Property SOCIMI, S. A. and as a Non-Executive Director of Land Securities Group PLC
Marcus Geddes, Head of Property, London Portfolio, Land Securities
Marcus is a qualified chartered surveyor with 18 years’ experience in the central London market. A Cambridge Land Economy graduate, he qualified and spent 13 years at Savills before joining Land Securities in 2011. Marcus is Head of Property for the London Portfolio with overall responsibility for asset, investment and operations and is a member of the London Executive Committee
Emma Huepfl, Co-Founder and Director of the Laxfield Group.
Emma is C-Founder and Director of the Laxfield Group, a real estate debt platform which lends, advises, manages loans and produces debt market data. Laxfield is the managing member of Laxfield LLP a £750m debt fund which focuses on core plus, value add and transitionary asset funding.
She started her first business in 1997 after careers at Savills Plc and GE Capital and has since helped ten different debt investors invest into the UK commercial mortgage market, creating a track record of more than £10bn of lending and no losses.
Emma is Chair of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council of Europe, the trade body for the CRE Finance Industry and serves on the Government Commercial Property Forum.
